A Giant Voice in the
Community is Now Silent Robert Washington, Jr. was a successful businessman and public
servant who lived in giving back to the community was an important segment of his
being; that service to the community was as important as success in running
the Lewis Funeral Home. “There was nothing he wouldn’t do to help someone in
need,” said one of his employees. Whether giving to area churches or helping local children’s
organizations, Robert was unceasing in his support. He also served the community as an employee,
then manager, then owner of the Lewis Funeral Home for a total of more than 50 years.
Robert passed away peacefully on April 6, 2011. His passing marks an end to an era of
devotional service to his fellow man. His voice is stilled yet his memory lingers on. |
